Subaru WRX STI S208 revealed for Tokyo motor show

The Subaru WRX STI S208 has been revealed ahead of its premiere at next month’s Tokyo motor show, with the limited-run model to be available in Japan from October 25.
Khodrocar - Based on the WRX STI, the S208 builds on the concept of the 2015 Subaru S207 – which brought a more track-focused exterior and interior specification, and an uprated 241kW/431Nm version of the standard car’s 2.0-litre turbo boxer engine.

Subaru and its STI subsidiary have developed the engine and suspension specifically for this model, along with unique exterior and interior trimmings to achieve the "ultimate driving car that offers the best ever performance and quality in the S series”.

However, final specifications are to be announced when the S208 goes on "sale by lottery” on October 25 – additionally, only 450 units will be produced.

Going by the images, though, it appears the S208 gets a more aggressive front splitter, new alloy wheels (likely supplied by lightweight rim specialist BBS), a prominent rear wing and carbon-fibre roof.

There’s also an STI pink pinstripe across the upper section of the rear diffuser.

Inside, the S208 gets special bucket seats trimmed in leather with contrasting white accents, and more STI pink trimmings. The full extent of the interior upgrades will likely be revealed with the final specification announcement on October 25.

However, it doesn’t appear the S208 will differ greatly from its S207 predecessor in terms of equipment, though the S208 looks to get the equipment from its forebear’s optional NBR Challenge Package as standard (wing, alloys etc.), while also being offered in the new flat blue colour – which is yet to be officially named.

As with many of STI’s special offerings, the S208 will be exclusive to the Japanese market.
