Chery recalls Jaecoo J7 and Tiggo 7 SUVs over potential stalling risk in ChinaKhodrocar - Chery has filed a recall plan with China’s State Administration for Market Regulation for certain production vehicles of two SUV models due to a potential safety defect. The company registered the recall under number S2026M0007V on January 23, 2026, in compliance with the Defective Automotive Product Recall Regulations and their Implementation Measures, as reported by Y-Auto.

The recall covers 1,108 units of the Chery Tansuo 06 and the all‑new Tiggo 7 1.6T SUVs, manufactured between April 1 and December 8, 2025. The Tansuo 06 is marketed overseas as the Jaecoo J7. Both models are part of Chery’s compact SUV lineup in China. The Tiggo 7 1.6T is offered in variants such as the Tiggo 7 Sport and Tiggo 7 Plus, priced between 87,900 yuan (12,250 USD) and 91,900 yuan (12,800 USD). The Tansuo 06 is marketed in 1.6T configurations, priced up to 139,900 yuan (19,500 USD).

Within the affected vehicles, some units may have been assembled without properly securing the engine electronic control unit (ECU) branch wiring harness clip during production. Inadequate fastening can cause abrasion of the wiring harness over time. Excessive wear of the harness could cause an engine stall while the vehicle is in motion, posing a safety risk to occupants and other road users.

Chery has said it will provide a free inspection of the ECU branch wiring harness assembly for all vehicles included in the recall. If the harness clip is found to be incorrectly installed or the harness shows signs of damage, the company will repair or replace the affected components at no cost to owners. The company plans to notify owners through authorised dealers via registered mail, telephone, or text message. Customers can also contact Chery’s customer service hotline in China at 400‑883‑8888 for information regarding the recall.

The Tansuo 06 (Jaecoo J7 overseas) and Tiggo 7 1.6T are compact SUVs powered by a 1.6‑litre turbocharged petrol engine producing approximately 145 kW and 290 Nm of torque, paired with a 7‑speed wet dual‑clutch transmission. The vehicles share similar dimensions, seating capacity, and urban/off‑road usability, making them central to Chery’s SUV strategy in the Chinese market.

Owners in China can also view recall details on the official recall centre website maintained by the market regulator or via its authorised public WeChat account. The recall became effective immediately as of January 23, 2026.
