It is rough these days with the Iran automobile industry. Sanctions are showing effects on the industry without any counter measures from the sleeping authorities. Yet the negligence of some companies cannot be waivered.
Recently a news pop out about an agreement between IDRO (Industrial Development & Renovation Organization of Iran) and AVASS Group of Australia regarding a 100 million Euro investment and transfer of EV technology along with helping Iran with production of EVs. The agreement is kind of as Iran government has always gave EVs and hybrid vehicles a cold shoulder.
The beginning of sanctions gave international car makers enough reasons to leave Iran car market and their mutual contracts behind. It is interesting though that Iranian authorities blamed themselves as the main reason why Renault has left Iran and no the sanction, as they did not live up to their commitments in the contract.
It was last year when Mansour Moazami, chairman of the board of IDRO announced the signing of 5 vehicle contract in the next year, but maybe no one even himself would thought that this prediction won’t happen.
One of the CEOs of Iran’s automobile manufacturing industry talked about the problems of this industry in the Fifth Iran Automotive Industry International Conference, very clearly.
Two days ago, Mohsen Salehinia, Deputy Minister of Industry Affaires said that “Bonro” production site will not be given to Renault, but they will offer two new production sites to Renault.
Last week, Iran’s Seniors of automotive industry traveled to Paris, in order to solve the problems of Bonro Production Site which is not still available.
“Bon Ro” production site won’t be available for IDRO , Renault and Naseh Holding joint venture. However the news is short but its long term effects would be negative for foreign investments attractions in Iran’s market.
Groupe Renault, IDRO and PARTO NEGIN NASEH Co (NEGIN Holding) are announcing the creation of a new joint venture company in Iran to boost Renault's presence in the country and step up the brand's growth.
After the signature of Renault- IDRO contract, Chief Competitive Officer of Renault said in a statement that this is an exceptional contract for Iran's automotive industry.
