BMW M5 MotoGP Safety Car Debuts With M Performance Parts

Khodrocar - The previous-generation BMW M5 received the MotoGP Safety Car treatment more than six years ago and now the all-new version of the high-performance midsize sedan is ready to join the company’s Safety Car fleet for the 2018 season. More than just a regular M5 with the appropriate livery, the car boasts an array of M Performance parts set to be revealed in full tomorrow on the occasion of the SEMA show in Las Vegas.

We can actually see the safety car sitting alongside a road-going M5 fitted with numerous components from the M Performance portfolio, including carbon fiber pieces like the front kidney grille, air breather slats, side sills, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler. Also at the back are carbon exhaust tips belonging to the newly developed sports exhaust system made from titanium to shave off weight over the regular setup.

The M5 MotoGP Safety Car has a few aces up its sleeve compared to the standard M5 as it features a front splitter specifically developed for this new application and also boasts hood latches taken from BMW’s race cars. Inside the cabin, there’s a pair of bucket seats borrowed from M4 GTS limited edition. Elsewhere, it gets the usual safety car equipment, such as a roof-mounted LED light bar, flashing blue LED lights in the front grille, flashing corona rings in the headlights, and a livery inspired by the M8 GTE race car.

The new BMW M5 MotoGP Safety Car will be seen in action for the first time at the MotoGP season finale in Valencia, Spain (November 10-12) and will report for safety car duty during the 2018 season. It’s going to follow numerous other safety cars used by BMW in recent years, such as the M2, M4 Coupe, M6 Gran Coupe, 1 Series M Coupe, and even the X6 M back in 2009.
