2018 Toyota Aygo facelift revealed

Geneva debut for Toyota micro hatch.
Khodrocar - Toyota has unveiled a facelifted Aygo in Europe, with a revised nose and more sound deadening inside.

The A-segment hatchback, which sits below the Yaris in the Toyota Europe line-up, shares its underpinnings with the Citroen C1 and Peugeot 108. Toyota has sold more than 85,000 examples since 2014, and the car holds a 6.6 per cent market share.

Up front, the bold X-shaped graphic from the old car has been reworked for a more three-dimensional look. Along with the redesigned headlights and angular daytime-running lights, the changes make for a more striking, cohesive face than before.

The changes continue with a tweaked light signature and tail-lights lenses down back, coupled with a tweaked bumper and new wheel designs.

Under the skin, the revised Aygo is powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine making 53kW and 93Nm. Toyota has fitted a new fuel injection system, and the engine now runs a higher compression ratio.

There are new, lower-friction components on board, and an improved balance shaft should improve refinement.

Claimed fuel consumption has improved to 3.9l/100km on the combined cycle, and the car shoots to 100km/h in 13.8 seconds on its way to a 161km/h top speed.

To make for a more refined feeling, sound absorption material has been added to the dashboard, windscreen pillars, doors and rear-deck, for a quieter cabin when at speed.

Along with the improved sound deadening, the interior has benefitted from updated 3D graphics and a more ‘premium colour scheme’ in high-grade models.
