BMW X2 Puts On Digital Camo For A Drive Around Milan

The crossover shares a platform with the X1 but dresses it in a swanky body.
Khodrocar - The BMW X2 will occupy the role as the stylish, compact entry in the German brand’s crossover lineup. So it only makes sense for the automaker to build hype for the chic model by showing one in digital camouflage during Milan Fashion Week. The company still conceals the headlights and taillights, but the rest of the shape is largely in production specification.

This is the second time that BMW dresses up the X2 in digital camouflage, and firm uses a mix of various shades of yellow, gray, black, and bluish blocks this time. Rather than hiding the vehicle’s shape, the mix of hues does more to highlight the styling.

he production version of the X2 doesn’t look nearly as sleek as the earlier concept. The road-going form makes it much easier to see the family resemblance to the X1, which also contributes the front-drive platform to the new model. Still, the vehicle is stylish with the small steeply raked roof and sharper nose.

The X2 would share the powertrain range with the X1. In the United States, buyers should expect at least a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 228 horsepower (170 kilowatts) and 258 pound-feet of torque. European customers would also be able to order a gas-powered 1.5-liter turbocharged mill or various tunes a turbodiesel four cylinder. Buyers could pick between front- or all-wheel-drive layouts. A hotter M Performance variant might eventually sit on top of the range.

The X2 will be on sale in 2018. By not showing revealing it in Frankfurt, BMW points to a possible debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in December. Bringing the stylish model to the fashion-conscious city would make sense for the unveiling.
