KMC X5: A Modern Evolution of the JAC S5

The KMC X5 showcases a completely redesigned front fascia that aligns with global design trends. A prominent feature is the relocation of the main headlights to the front bumper, while slim daytime running lights sit atop the grille for a sleek, high-tech look.

The KMC X5 is among the latest offerings from Kerman Motor, based on the popular JAC S5 crossover from China. This vehicle is essentially a facelifted version of the S5 and is known globally as the JAC JS5. With a comprehensive redesign and upgraded features, the X5 presents itself as a competitive and modern crossover in its segment.

Exterior Design: Bold and Contemporary

The KMC X5 showcases a completely redesigned front fascia that aligns with global design trends. A prominent feature is the relocation of the main headlights to the front bumper, while slim daytime running lights sit atop the grille for a sleek, high-tech look. The front grille itself has been significantly enlarged, adorned with chrome accents that add a touch of aggression and sophistication to the overall design.

At the rear, the vehicle retains the core styling of the original JAC S5 but introduces modern updates. The tail lights are now connected via a light strip, and the internal graphics have been revised to give a more contemporary appearance. A redesigned tailgate with sharp horizontal lines and an updated rear bumper housing integrated reverse and fog lights further enhances the vehicle’s dynamic rear profile. Faux dual exhaust tips contribute to a sporty aesthetic.

Interior Redesign: Sleek and Tech-Forward

Inside the cabin, the KMC X5 undergoes a full transformation. The dashboard and door panels have been completely reimagined to create a more modern and premium environment. At the center of the dashboard sits a large, tablet-style infotainment screen, reminiscent of the design seen in the larger KMC K7. Positioned above the air vents, this floating screen is complemented by the removal of traditional physical climate control buttons, replaced by a more streamlined digital interface.

Powertrain and Performance

Under the hood, the KMC X5 carries the same mechanical specifications as the facelifted JAC S5, known locally in Iran as the S5 New Face. It is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine equipped with GDi (Gasoline Direct Injection) technology. This engine delivers 172 horsepower and 285 Nm of torque, offering a blend of efficiency and responsiveness.

Power is sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT). The suspension setup remains unchanged from its predecessor: a multi-link suspension system at the front and a MacPherson strut system at the rear, delivering balanced ride comfort and handling. Fuel consumption is rated at approximately 8.5 liters per 100 kilometers.

Comfort and Safety Features

The KMC X5 is equipped with a robust suite of comfort and safety technologies, elevating it above its predecessor. Notable features include:

Safety Systems: ABS, EBD, Brake Assist (BA), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Traction Control, Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), seatbelt reminder for the driver, and four airbags.
