Fuel Standards: A Big Problem For Automakers

Approval of fuel economy standards have been implemented and the car manufacturers successfully passed the first level of these standards. Now, they have 3 months remaining to reach the second level and the third level is until the end of this year.
Khodrocar – Iranian car manufacturers have 3 months remaining to reach the second level of fuel standards, otherwise they will force to stop the production of old cars, which are not compatible with new standards.

This is while the companies were somehow successful to reduce the fuel consumption for their cars and the ministry of industry, mining and trade is very optimistic about the second and third level of this standard.

Peiman Pirayesh, CEO Supervisor of the implementation of the standards of steel industry of Nation Standard organization, talked about the implementation of fuel standards’ second level and said that the car manufacturers must reach those standards until March. He believed that if they are unable to reach the standards, their production lines will be banned.

*Are automakers able to reach the standards during the next three months?

Hasan Ghanati, Director General of Automobile and Automotive Industries bureau tells Khodrocar regarding the issue: The automakers are able the second and third levels. The issue is that these standards are different from the 85 step standards.

He emphasizes: The automakers successfully reached the first level. Based on the timing, the second step will be implemented 3 months later.

It seems the strict programs of the government and Nation Standard Organization are a part of the plan to increase the quality of the domestic vehicles. Also the Ministry of industry, mine and trade is very serious about implementing these standards.
