Toyota aims to double its production in Turkey in 2017

Japanese automaker Toyota Corp. said Friday it wants to double the production of automobiles in Turkey in 2017, aiming to increase production number to 280,000 vehicles.
According to Khodrocar, toyota produced approximately 155,000 vehicles in Turkey in 2016, and aims to increase the production by 90 percent in 2017, targeting the figure of 280.000, according to Anadolu Agency.

Meanwhile, export figures of Toyota in Turkey have risen drastically. In the first quarter of 2016, some 16,365 cars were exported, while current figures are at 65,548 cars for the same period in 2017, meaning an increase in exports by 300 percent. Export revenues for the year of 2016 amounted to $1.8 billion.

Toyota manufactures automobiles of the Corolla, Verso and Toyota C-HR production lines in its Turkish plant located in the Arifiye district of Sakarya province. The production of the Toyota C-HR model began at the end of 2016, increasing the workforce in Toyota's Turkish plant from 3,000 to 5,000 employees.

A large part of the automobiles produced in Turkey is being exported to 97 countries in Europe, North America, North and South Africa, the Middle East and the Caucasus. The plant in Arifiye district of northern Sakarya province boasts of a total of €1.7 billion ($1.86 billion) in investments.
