KhodroCar - The secretary of Iran's Vehicle Manufacturer Association, Ahmad Nemat Bakhsh said that automakers should standardize their products according to the 85 protocols of standard till the end of December 2019. This deadline was announced long time ago then last week, standard organization banned 25 vehicle due to standard issues.
Now, regarding to the one additional year, which was not mentioned before, is there any hope to see the old platforms exiting the production line?
"Pride has 1300 parts which produce domestically, in addition, we won’t be able to produce another car as cheaply as Pride. So we are going to discuss whether to stop the production of Pride or not. If we decide to keep the Pride then we will increase the quality of it." Said CEO of SAIPA. Mohsen Ghasemi Jahroodi.
"According to what Mr. Nemat Bakhsh has said, we need 10 years to produce 100 thousand vehicles annually. Regarding to this matter, it seems that the old platforms will be produced for another 20 years. Also, it is wrong to think that the national standard organization wants to harm automakers. Automakers have problems and they should solve it." Said an expert of the auto industry, Farbod Zave.
"It seems that the automakers are surprised by the news of banned vehicles, but they actually knew it from long time ago. Replacing Pride and Peugeot will increase the price of high quality and standard vehicles. According to Mr. Nemat Bakhsh speech, it seems that vehicle standards will extend for the next 10 years." He added.
"85 protocols of the standard is not mandatory for all vehicles. These standards are for some special cars with different options. However, the national standard organization policies has not been clarified for each kind of vehicles." Said Zaveh to KhodroCar reporter. "Now, we have the chance to recognize the problems and weakness, then design new platforms for modern cars instead of producing vehicles which are more than 10 years old."
