Daimler AG, parent of Mercedes-Benz has been forced to recall around 774,000 vehicles across its C-Class, GLC and Vito model lines in Europe, after being accused by German authorities of fitting emissions defeat devices in certain diesel models.

The prosecutor has also accused two other Porsche employees with wrongdoing over the diesel scandal.

German brand believes such bands could help buyers of different driving styles better understand emissions for each car.

The government will not participate in the talks.

After nearly two years of constant crisis, the German car industry is looking to salvage its beleaguered diesel technology and draw a line under an emissions scandal that shows no signs of abating.
