Latest Vehicle Import Instructions Released: Top Car Brands Banned from Import

KhodroCar – The latest vehicle import instructions was approved earlier today, setting a new range of doubt and anxiety in the market. The instructions still contain the same limitation that was set to ban vehicles with engine displacement over 2.5 lite. Besides that, the tariffs for vehicle lover displacements of 2.5 liter has increased respective to each level as well as the newly added limitation of banning vehicles with customs declaration price over 40 thousand US Dollars.

The ban of import of vehicles over 2.5 liter of displacement has reduced the variety of car models in Iran car market to half, since almost four years ago. As the new instruction rules, the only models available to import from BMW brand are the X1, X2, 1, 2 and 3 Series along with BMW’s British sub brand the MINI. From Mercedes-Benz, only the A Class is eligible for import along with the SMART sub brand. Audi did not make a fortune in Iran but if it is tried for import again, A3 sedan and cabriolet, A4 and Q3 are able to touch asphalts of Iran streets.

Lexus will be limited to NX, ES and IS Models and Volvo is limited to S60 and V60 id tried for import. Alfa Romeo, the favorite Italian sport spirit with Giulietta and Mito ceased production, can only be seen with low level I4 Giulia model Iran. Infinity was recently whispered as a potent brand for import to rival Lexus, will be limited to QX30, Q50 and Q60 models.

New premium French brand, the DS with attention to trim and option levels can import DS3, DS5 and DS7 Cross Back.

Although respecting engine capacity limitations, Porsche cannot be imported to Iran because even the cheapest model, Macan, is extremely close to saying goodbye to Iran car market. Yet the Italian bully, the Maserati is not also over 40K USD but also no engine below 3.0 liter is available for its models. Therefore there is no possible way for this sporty brand to be imported to Iran once more.

The above mentioned vehicles are those with customs declaration price below 40 thousand US Dollars, but if they are selected from special editions or with bigger engines and higher levels of options, their price would easily pass 50K USD. This means the eligible mentioned models are able to be imported to Iran car market only if selected with the smallest engine optioned and lowest levels of options. Such import will drastically affect people’s attitude toward high class premium cars in the market. Better to say, this could actually lead to some well-known favorite brands farewell.

The limitations actually lead to great rise in price of latest imported version of banned cars. Doubling or even tripling the prices of the used version of banned cars can eradicate the balance in market and will destroy the competitive atmosphere in the market. Such harm takes years to heal and compensate.

The importers now have to look for other brand like the VW, Toyota, Mazda or other cheap and adequate brands to import and customers have to face the unbelievable price of the used cars as well as the deep joy and happiness of domestic and Chinese car makers.
