Great Wall Motor Co. cooled prospects for a deal with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, saying there are no talks and it may not pursue a takeover of the Italian-American car manufacturer’s Jeep division.
Chinese automaker Great Wall Motors said there are "big uncertainties" whether it will continue to study a takeover of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' Jeep division.
Chinese automaker Great Wall Motor Co. is interested in buying the Jeep brand and has reached out to Fiat Chrysler Automobiles to see whether a deal can be negotiated.
“This car is not trying to be a Mustang GT350 or a Camaro 1LE,” explained Tim Kuniskis, head of passenger car brands of FCA North America, during the technical presentation for the new Widebody Challenger SRT Hellcat. “But we always knew that with more tire it would be in the 10s straight out of the factory. What we underestimated was how much better it would handle, too.”
Representatives of a well-known Chinese automaker made at least one offer this month to buy Fiat Chrysler Automobiles at a small premium over its market value.
In another expansion of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ rollaway recall, the company will inspect and fix a total of 7,802 Dodge Challengers in the United States.
